Baby Shower Games
Baby showers are a celebration of new life. Having a baby shower is a special opportunity to invite friends and family to join in on the momentous occasion of your welcoming a new life. They bring people together to celebrate an upcoming joyous event while eating yummy food, exchanging gifts and ideas, and of course… playing fun games.
Baby shower games are an absolute staple for any baby shower get-together. There are thousands if not millions of websites dedicated to baby shower game ideas. I’ve composed below, what I believe to be the most traditional as well as the most fun games to play.
Baby Bingo
This game is not only affordable, it is a classic. Each player receives a card (which can be printed up right off of your computer) with words on it such as; rubber ducky, baby bottle, diapers, etc. The hostess then grabs, out of a bag, the words used on the cards until someone can call out BINGO!
Baby Word Scramble
Another classic! Each participant receives a paper with around 15-20 scrambled words relating to everything baby. For example: periad = diaper. The participant to unscramble all of the words in the quickest amount of time, wins!
Guess Who?
For this game, you instruct guests to bring a baby photo of themselves to the shower. The hostess will place all of the photos out and have guests try to match each baby photo to the guest they belong to. The winner is the person with most correct guesses.
Baby Mad Libs
This game takes a little creativity on the hostesses’ part but the results are hilarious! Write a silly story about the parents-to-be and/or about the baby. Take out random words (nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc) then ask the guests to come up with “fillers” for the missing words. Collect the guest’s answers, and read the story aloud, using their new words. These can be very funny so I would suggest keeping them for in a scrapbook to read time and time again.
One Baby Shower Game to Do Without
There is one game, however traditionally it may be, that I could personally do without. That game is Guess The Size of Mommy’s Belly game. You start the game by having string or ribbon ready for the guests to use in order to guess the size of the guest of honor’s belly. Each participant in this game will cut the string/ribbon to the size that they think will fit Mom-To-Be’s waist. Once this is done each guest wraps their string/ribbon around the her waist and the participant who has the closest guess is declared winner. Check with the Guest of Honor before rolling out this game. Some Moms-To-Be may be too sensitive about their belly size… I know I was. It may be hilarious for your guests to get enough string to circle Earth and back but to ‘about-to-pop’ Mommies… not so funny!
